12 October 2018 What exactly is Events Management?

Many people may think of event managers as meeting or wedding planners. However, event management involves much more than that or it seems.

At its most basic, event management is the process of using business management and organizational skills to envision, plan and execute social and corporate events. Event managers are people whom specialise in event management work with budgets, schedule and vendors to create the best possible events for their clients.

An event manager starts planning an event by meeting with the client and collects all necessary information about the client’s vision of the event. Once the overall event concept or theme and the budget is in place, the event manager will ensure all the necessary coordination works are aligned. On the day of event, the event management team will be on-site to run the event and handle any problems that may arise. Following the event, the team will wrap up the event and get feedback from the client.

You may also ask, what is the difference between an events planner and an events manager?

A planner’s main responsibilities involve keeping track of time during your events, ensuring proper setup is done according to client’s requirements, managing event crew or part time staffs and other venue-related tasks that are pivotal to the success of the event.

Event managers on the other hand are there with you every step of the whole event process. Managers orchestrate all the event details, contract negotiations, create and manage budgets and timelines, handle vendors and at times manage the venue selection process.
